Minors and addtional degrees

Several departments offer minors, which can be taken in addition to the computer science major.
For details see the undergraduate bulletin and check with the respective departments.

Especially interesting are:

  • the mathematics minor, which requires 3 additional courses
beyond the required courses for computer science majors,
e.g. Bridge to Advance Mathematics, Elements of Modern Algebra,
Theory of Numbers. These courses can also be used as
    technical and free electives.
  • the physics minor, which requires three additional courses
beyond the general physics sequence. The general physics
sequence is a possibility for the science electives, and
the additional courses might be used as third science elective
    and technical or free electives.
  • the chemistry minor, which requires five additional courses
beyond the general chemistry sequence. The general chemistry
sequence is a possibility for the science electives, and
the additional courses might be used as third science elective
    and technical or free electives.

Several liberal arts departments offer a minor, which typically takes additional five to seven courses.
Some of these might be used also to satisfy the liberal arts requirement. Minors are offered in:

  • asian studies

  • black studies

  • classical studies

  • economics

  • english

  • french

  • international studies

  • italian

  • jewish studies

  • philosophy

  • public policy

  • portuguese

  • spanish

There is also a premedical studies program, which requires at least eight additional courses.
