The department offers a unique additional qualification, the government supported certificate program on Data Reduction and Assimilation , organized by Prof. George Ross.

Certificate Program in Data Reduction and Assimilation
This certificate program consists of a three graduate course sequence developed with funding from the National Atmospheric and Oceanographic Administration (NOAA). This sequence prepares students for internships and employment at NOAA. The three courses are:

• Csc I6730 Data Reduction in the Physical Sciences

• CSc I6731 Methods of Computational Science

• Csc I6722 Cluster Programming

Successful completion of these three courses earns a Certificate in Data Reduction, honored at NOAA and other government laboratories.
